Technology to Support Higher Learning

Bridgewater has the tools and technical infrastructure to support students—both on campus and off. Our wireless network offers high-speed internet connectivity throughout our campus. We offer Microsoft O365 applications, Blackboard LMS and a broad range of applications and services to support academic life.

Need a loaner device or do you need a password reset? Have a question about security? Technology help is available by phone, email or chat with a drop-in service desk located in the library.

Residential Network Services

ResNet is a residential technology package that includes an array of services for resident students. ResNet provides specialized technical support as well as cutting-edge services in your residence hall room. Our services include a high-speed, secure wireless network that covers the entire campus. We provide multiple wireless networks that are specifically designed to meet the academic demands of our resident students, as well as Xfinity Live TV streaming, Xfinity on-demand, movie streaming, printing and more.

Student Laptop Recommendations

When selecting a desktop, laptop, or Chromebook computer for school, make sure you compare battery life and CPU (central processing unit) performance to get the best and longest-lasting performance. We would also recommend you consider an extended warranty to help cover issues throughout your enrollment.​​​​​​

Please note, technology-intensive programs of study may require a higher minimum standard​ device.

Microsoft Office 365 (O365)
BSU students, faculty, and staff can download up to five copies of Office 365 for Business on their personal devices. O365 offers cloud-based email, One Drive, and Office Online (cloud-based Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD)
WVD is available for use by BSU students to access course-specific software applications. The virtual Windows 10 system can be accessed from any Mac or PC computer.

Academic Technology

BSU has a comprehensive technology infrastructure as well as discipline-specific labs and tools such as Bloomberg terminals and flight simulators to support the mission of teaching and learning.

BSU provides three general open access computer labs and 12 major specific computer labs including five Mac labs on campus. All classrooms are equipped with wireless connection, teaching computer station, audio/visual equipment, laptop cable hookups, sound reinforcement, document camera and projection screen.

For commuters, our mobile app includes a smart parking feature to indicate parking lot availability and our bus tracker indicates the current position of shuttles.

A sample connect card

The Connect Card is a multi-purpose ID card that can be used for library privileges, building access, as a meal ticket and as a debit card.

As a debit card, funds may be used at all dining areas, vending machines, laundry machines, public copiers, the Bookstore, Dunkin’ and Starbucks (on campus), purchasing stamps at the university’s mailroom, purchasing a gym membership, and off-campus at a number of participating merchants.

BSU Makerspace

The BSU makerspace is an interdisciplinary initiative offering access to and training on specialized equipment. It is the central part of the Think Tank in the Dana Mohler-Faria Science & Mathematics Center.

In partnership with the Bizarbot's Robotics team, the BSU makerspace is manufacturing PPE like face shields, ear protectors and no-touch door openers .
